Privacy Policy for the "BFFS Backstage" campaign
A. Data Controller
We are pleased that you are taking part in a competition organised by Volkswagen AG, Berliner Ring 2, 38440 Wolfsburg, drive.info@volkswagen.de registered in the commercial register of the Braunschweig District Court under the number HRB 100484 ("Volkswagen AG"). In the following, we inform you about the collection, processing and use of your data in connection with participation in our competition. Information about data processing can be found on our websites and our social media profiles here.
B. Collection, processing and use of your personal data
I. Participation in competitions:
We process personal data that you provide to us as a participant in the competition for the purpose of conducting the competition. This includes determining whether you are eligible to participate and how we can notify you if you win. If you do not provide us with the aforementioned data, it will not be possible to participate in the competition or contact us regarding a notification of the prize. If you participate in a competition, we collect and process the following personal data from you and your companion:
- Last name, first name
- Address
- Email address
Depending on the type of competition, we may collect other data from you, such as: Your answers to competition questions. If you provide us with your personal data as a participant in a competition, we will process it in order to administer the competition and to contact you if you have won. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. We will store your personal data for as long as this is necessary for the implementation of the competition. After the end of the competition, your data processed in the context of the competition will generally be deleted within 14 days. For legal reasons (e.g. tax law), longer retention obligations may result.
II. Newsletter
You also have the option of subscribing to our DRIVE newsletter as part of your participation in a competition. Please enter your

This data will be used by us exclusively for sending the newsletter. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent). Volkswagen AG uses the so-called double opt-in procedure for this purpose. An e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address provided with a request to confirm your consent. You can revoke your consent at any time free of charge with effect for the future vis-à-vis Volkswagen AG, e.g. via the "Unsubscribe" link contained in each newsletter or via the following website DRIVE Volkswagen Group Forum – Privacy Policy DRIVE Volkswagen Group Forum – Datenschutzerklärung (drive-volkswagen-group.com). If you unsubscribe from the newsletter, your personal data will no longer be used to send the newsletter.
C. Transfers to third parties
In our company, only those entities that need it for the purposes mentioned above will have access to your personal data. Your personal data will only be transferred to third parties in the following ways:
I. External service providers (processors)
In the context of the above-mentioned data processing, we use external service providers (e.g. for sending e-mails, storing your data in its secure data centre and maintaining and analysing databases). Within the framework of a contract for order processing (Art. 28 GDPR), these service providers have undertaken, among other things, to comply with appropriate technical and organizational measures for data security and act on our behalf in accordance with instructions. In addition to Volkswagen AG, Volkswagen Group Services GmbH, Wolfsburg, which is involved in the implementation of the competition, has access to your personal data. A contract processing agreement has been concluded with Volkswagen Group Services GmbH, Wolfsburg.
II. Other data recipients
We transmit your personal data to third parties insofar as this is necessary for the implementation of a competition or for the transmission of the prize. These can be the following data recipients:
- Shipping service providers (postal and parcel shipping or freight forwarders to send you any winnings)
- Service providers (e.g., La Maison Victor Schilly & Friends Gmbh)
The legal basis for the transfer of data to third parties is the terms and conditions of participation Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR.
D. Your rights
You may assert your rights as outlined below against Volkswagen AG at any time free-of-charge. For further information concerning the exercise of your rights, please see section E.
Right to information: You have the right to obtain information from us (Art. 15 GDPR) about the processing of your personal data.
Right of rectification: You have the right to request that we correct (Art. 16 GDPR) any inaccurate or incomplete personal data concerning you.
Right to erasure: You have the right, in the event that the requirements specified in Article 17 of the GDPR have been met, to demand the deletion of your data. Accordingly, you may request the deletion of your data, for instance, if it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Furthermore, you may request deletion if we process your data on the basis of your consent and you revoke this consent.
Right to restriction of processing: You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data if the requirements specified under Article 18 of the GDPR have been met. This is the case, for example, if you dispute the accuracy of your data. You may request that processing is restricted for as long as it takes to examine the correctness of your data.
Right to object: If the processing is based on an overriding interest or if your data is used for the purpose of direct marketing, you have the right to object to the processing of your data. In the event of an objection, we ask you to inform us of your reasons for objecting to data processing. In addition, you have the right to object to data processing for direct marketing purposes. This also applies to profiling, as far as it is related to direct advertising.
Right to data portability: If the data processing is based on consent or the performance of a contract and is also carried out using automated processing, you have the right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to transmit it to another data processor.
Right of revocation: If the data processing is based on consent, you have the right to revoke the data processing at any time free of charge within the framework of consent with effect for the future.
Right to lodge a complaint: You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority (for example, the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information or the Lower Saxony Data Protection Authority) about our processing of your data.
