From a village comes a legend. At the end of July, Schleswig-Holstein will once again host the Wacken Open Air, one of the world’s largest heavy metal festivals and an international gathering place for music fans from every continent. Mud, volume and a strong sense of community define the experience, with eight stages dedicated to headbanging. Most visitors stay on-site throughout the festival, either camping in tents or arriving in motorhomes.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, a brand of the Volkswagen Group, brought together the Wacken and California communities – the iconic camper conversion for Volkswagen Bullis has tens of thousands of enthusiasts – and served as the official mobility partner of W:O:A 2025. Under the motto “The Wild Side of California,” the Bulli spirit was brought to the festival grounds.
