The open-air exhibition “Always modern! Berlin and its streets” will be on view on the Unter den Linden boulevard in Berlin, directly opposite DRIVE, until 30 November. The event is being organised by the Association of Architects and Engineers in Berlin-Brandenburg (AIV) to mark its 200th anniversary. DRIVE is a partner and event venue for one of the accompanying symposiums.

The exhibition is divided into two sections “Great Streets for Today” and “Great Streets for Tomorrow”. Under the banner “Great Streets for Today”, the key changes in Berlin’s cityscape will be presented using important street spaces such as Unter den Linden, Kurfürstendamm and Bundesallee. The concept of the car-friendly town will be a further focal point. Ten high-profile architectural teams will also present proposals for redesigning main streets in Berlin and the state capital Potsdam, which can be seen in the exhibition section “Great Streets for Tomorrow”.

The most important achievements and formative plans, but also the breaks in Berlin’s urban development, will be presented using the example of the Unter den Linden boulevard.

Symposium in DRIVE on 9 November

The symposium on the topic of “Urban redevelopment: new infrastructure and mobility” in DRIVE is part of the extensive supporting program for the open-air exhibition. Among other aspects, experts will explore the question of how new mobility concepts will shape change in the city’s streetscape in terms of the division of space for personal and public transportation as well as commercial, residential and community areas.
