A. Data Controller

We are pleased about your visit on a website of Volkswagen AG, Berliner Ring 2, 38440 Wolfsburg, registered in the Register of Companies of the Brunswick District Court under No. HRB 100484 (‘Volkswagen AG’). In the following we inform you about the processing of your personal data by Volkswagen AG in connection with your visit to the website.

B. Collection, processing and use of your personal data

You have the option to contact Volkswagen Communication via e-mail addresses that are not assigned to a specific person. When you send your request to one of the e-mail addresses of a group or departmental mailbox, your personal data will be processed. The legal basis for data processing is the balancing of interests in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) of the GDPR. Volkswagen AG collects the personal data you provide in order to process your e-mail. It is in the interest of the company to respond to public enquiries in order to achieve a positive public image of Volkswagen and its products. The data is processed for the following purposes:

  • Establishing contact and, if necessary, answering the enquiry

The following personal data are processed:

  • Salutation, title, first name, surname, e-mail address, telephone number and only if specified in the signature data: company, position, department, address, social media accounts, websites and the text of the enquiry.

The data collection does not go beyond the data normally transmitted in e-mail correspondence. Volkswagen AG will erase your data after two years at the latest, unless the company is entitled or obliged to store the data for other reasons (e.g. due to statutory retention periods). In this case, the data will be deleted at the latest when this reason no longer applies.

C. Your rights

You may assert the following rights vis-à-vis Volkswagen AG at any time free of charge. Additional information on exercising your rights can be found under Section D.

Furthermore, you may request deletion if we process your data on the basis of your consent and you revoke this consent.

In the event of objection, we ask you to inform us of the reasons for which you object to data processing. In addition, you have the right to object to data processing for direct marketing purposes. This also applies to profiling in so far as it is related to direct marketing.
