Anton Schmaus, Head Chef of the German men’s national football team
Anton Schmaus is always on the ball: whether as a youth football player, as a Michelin-star chef in his own restaurant Storstad, or as Head Chef of the German national team. His cookbook “Anton Schmaus kocht: Meine besten Rezepte aus Heimat und aller Welt” [Anton Schmaus cooks: My best recipes from home and abroad], published in October, showcases the versatile cuisine of the born-and-bred Bavarian. We wanted to find out how he manages all this and what he serves up to Joshua Kimmich and his team mates.
The high quality, the variety of the individual concepts and the clear edge that his kitchen philosophy exudes, have taken his reputation far beyond Bavaria and garnered him different awards, including Michelin stars and the Gault&Millau “Rising Star of the Year” award. Alongside restaurants in Regensburg, Schmaus travels professionally all over the world. He has been Head Chef of the German national football team since August 2017.
