Volkswagen launches a new event format

Volkswagen is launching a new series of events on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It hopes that it will generate enthusiasm for new technologies, reduce our fear of dealing with it, and explain how AI can change our everyday lives, both at home and in the workplace. The series of regular events will kick off on 30 May 2023 in Berlin at the DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum.

The patron of the event, Hauke Stars, Member of the Board for IT and Digitalisation, stresses that AI already offers great opportunities today, not just in the distant future.

We hope that our series of events will help to make AI accessible to a wider public, promote knowledge and understanding of digital technologies, and awaken enthusiasm for the possibilities that digitalisation offers.

Prominent AI experts from the worlds of research, business, politics and the media will provide exciting insights and explicitly discuss mobility, all other spheres of work and home life, and economic, social and ethical aspects. Volkswagen hopes to invite people for an exchange of views and networking with a mixture of short keynote speeches, hosted panel discussions, and an interactive session with the audience.

The launch event, hosted by Daniel Finger, promises to be a real highlight. The prominent members of the panel include Dorothea Winter, philosopher, author and podcaster, Dr. Aljoscha Burchardt, expert in language technology and artificial intelligence, and Dr. Thomas Ramge, who thinks and writes about the interfaces between technology, the economy and society.

The event is also intended to address the serious shortage of skilled workers, and promote alternative ways of communicating knowledge. Hauke Stars stresses that data and AI will play a crucial role at Volkswagen, and in all other areas of life. She is sure that this interactive format with top-class AI experts will provide the perfect launch pad from which to engage more with digital topics. Even today, 90% of jobs require a basic knowledge of IT. The shortage of skilled workers can only be tackled if companies and people are willing to engage with digital issues and continue their education and training.

The Volkswagen event series is therefore an important step in the right direction to introduce people to the opportunities offered by digitalisation.
